Fjallsjökull was quite the imposing glacier from a distance, but as we approached the viewpoint, it was an entirely different experience. The outlet glacier stretched wider than the photograph yields an idea of, but also perpetually into the horizon. Not unlike staring into space, seeing these ancient glacial structures really helps ground you with how vast, wide, and storied our surroundings really are.
